Blah kind of Week

This week has been super busy. With my mom away in Colorado, I have been a stay at home mom all week...and let me tell you...I think working is easier. I forgot how tiring it is to be with your kids ALL day long. I love love love love love love my kids, but welcome a break sometimes.

Seriously...stay at home moms=stay at home heros!

Also since it has been so hectic (along with Kevin getting a lot of over time this week because of Super Bowl) I haven't made the time to do my daily chats with God. And I have definitely been feeling it. (or the lack there of) My quiet times reset my mind. They put me back in the place to be thankful for what I have. They give me the affirmation that The One person who matters most is thinking of me too. I am realizing more and more that I need it everyday, without it, I feel lost.

"Your heart cries, Listen to me--there is something missing in all of this.  You long to be in a love affair, an adventure.  You were made for something more and you know it."

May I feel this way forever and ever...Amen

Olivia's Quotes for the Day

Liv cracks me up... She is starting to talk so much more. (even though I can still only understand half of her sentences...I still get the point) I have said before that she is the most grateful and polite 2 year old I know. She says thank you or no thank you for everything. Even to Toby which just cracks me up.

Today we were in the car and the sun came out from behind the clouds. She says to me "Mom, I need my eyes" (her sunglasses) Before I had a chance to reach for them she said "Oh... tay-tu (thank you) Mack" I look her way and see that a semi truck had pulled up next to us and blocked the sun from her eyes. She is just giggling with delight, like "Mack" did it on purpose and says "Mom...Mack helped eyes...oh tay-tu Mack"

On the flip side, every time I tell her to do something she says "No tay-tu Mom" or "Not yet Mom" I love creative they can get with "no".

But seriously, she is just the sweetest thing...and I just can't get enough of her these days.

Worst Day Ever

So I already woke up bummed because my sister left this morning to move back to Colorado. While I am so happy for her that she gets to decorate a new apartment and live with her husband, in their own place,  for the first time since they have been married, but I am busy being selfish. I am going to miss her so much. She was so much more than a sister this time she was home. She was a friend, a confidant, an Auntie, and an "only friend" to my husband on bunco nights. She will be greatly missed as an honorary member of our Fisher Family.

So it was 5 minutes until lunch at school today and I was counting down the minutes. The kids were restless. I wanted them to just be quiet until lunch so I got up to take away points. While I was doing so, all 35 fifth graders started to giggle...a lot. I told them I didn't think it was funny until one of them informed me that the zipper on my skirt had busted. Mortified, I turned my back to the board and felt the back of my skirt. Perfectly enough my zipper had busted exposing my thong and butt cheeks to the entire class. I held back the tears long enough to get to the bathroom and turn my skirt around (Thank God the teacher bathroom is right next to the class I was in.) I put on my adult face and marched back into the room and sat down in the teachers desk. (which I try to never do because the kids get out of hand if you don't walk around. ) As you can imagine things got loud and the kids who had the headache apparently told the office that it was too loud in the room.

Not five minutes later the principal walks in and starts yelling at the kids and me without even stopping to assess the situation. She was upset that I sent 5 kids, (3 who were bent over with stomach pains and 2 with headaches) over the span of the morning, to the office. She told me that if they weren't throwing up or had diarrhea that I should tell them to suck it up. (So not my style) Then she proceeded to rip me a new butt hole for sitting down on the job. Her exact words, in front of the entire class, were "We teach on our feet, not in our seats" . I was so insulted. After she was done ranting, I asked her if we could talk outside. I explained to her what had happened just 5 mins earlier. She says "Oh I didn't know that" and then says "I know you are just a sub so I don't expect you to know the stuff credentialed teachers do, but I never sat down the ten years I taught". JUST A SUB...are you kidding me. So now she has not only judged me but now she insults me by calling my not qualified.

I have never felt so belittled and disrespected in my life. I am definitely bummin on my job today. But at least I know that it can't get any worse than today...right?

Yosemite Run Down

So Kevin and I went to Yosemite for our 3 year anniversary. The drive was alright since Kevin made us leave at 5:00 in the morning. (He really wanted to leave at 3:30am but since we only had one day there I didn't want to be exhausted all day so I talked him into 5am) Kyle said the drive would take 4 hours, which I was dreading, but stupid me looked at my navigation timer and saw that it was really a 6 hour drive. SOOOOOOO long, but worth it in the end. We got there in 6 hours exactly, only stopping 3 times for me to pee. (Thats good for me) We checked in and ate lunch at the lodge restaurant and headed to the Yosemite Valley. We stopped at this little creek first so Kevin could look for fish, even though none could be found, it was still a beautiful picture opportunity.
Then we headed though the valley and as soon as you come out of the amazing big mountain tunnel you see this!
Wow right, the valley is SO big! And there is a beautiful water fall that Kevin took us on this crazy trek through snow to try to get to, only to find out that there was a trail to the top. So we did that too. I fell three times and peed my pants from laughing so hard. (If you know me this is not as weird as you think it is...haha) So we got up to the waterfall and it was awesome, you could feel the mist on your face even though it seemed to be so far away.
We drove back  to the lodge and got ready for dinner. We drove into Oakhust and went to a tattoo shop to get me a new lip ring. (I lost my old one and Kevin didn't want it to sweet!) It was weird and the guy only had a bro horse shoe ring that was one gauge bigger than what I had before. So I sucked it up and pushed it in. OUCH! Then we went to dinner at this local mexican joint. Then went back to the lodge for desert and a little hot tubbin. We were like only one of a few people in the hotel so we thought we would have the hot tub to ourselves but there was like 6 kids swimming in the indoor pool so we had to stall a little. The bar tender told us about a game room in the basement so we went and played a game of pool before trying the hot tub again. Hot tub, bottle of wine, shower, and bed...amazing end to an amazing day. Here is our cottage:
The next day we got up early to go do the Giant Sequoia Tree hike. They told us that it was a two mile hike but I didn't really think anything of it. They told us we should probably get snow shoes so we did. After we were hiking up hill, in snow shoes, going less that 2 miles an hour, it dawned on me that this 2 mile hike was going to take us over an hour. We, well I, stopped numerous times to complain and tell Kevin we should turn back, but he quietly pushed me to keep going, the way only he can. We did and after an hour and ten mins of complaining, we made it to the trees. They were amazing and I am so glad we did it. Here is the biggest one we saw:
It was so cool because we were the only ones in the whole park. Cool but a little scary, what if we got eaten by a bear or something???? So we headed back, and thats when I realized that I had a monster of a blister that popped. Kevin took off his socks so I could have some extra padding on it (I know...hes the jam) And so I laid eyes on my marble size blister:
It hurt so bad and I had to walk down that same 2 mile trail, still wearing my snowshoes and on the verge of tears the entire time. I made it though, a lot of screaming but not a single tear shed. All in all, two hours of hiking in the snow, $32 for snow shoes, and now two hours behind schedule to get home to the babes before they got up from their naps...we had conquered the mountain and it was worth every pain staking step.

The best Year of my life...

All 10 days of it...

I have kept my New Years Resolutions thus far. (and if you're mocking me saying haha, its only been 10 days then stop, because we all have to start somewhere!)

I have spent time with God everyday but one day. I am reading two books simotaniously and they are amazing. They are Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs and The Love Dare. Because the are Christian books and use scripture to support all their claims, they count as my God time. Plus, both if them are about marriage, so they are teaching me new ways of looking at Kevin, our marriage, God, and myself. They are incredible and I feel like as long as I am reading them, I will keep focused on the prize. (Having the amazing marriage we started out with) The Love and Respect Book puts a whole new light on the same old fight we all have as married couples (Jen F, I will switch you this one for the good wife one you are reading when you are done because it is amazing) And the Love Dare is a short little daily devotional that dares you to do something different each day for your spouse to make them feel your love. I love it and it's so nice to do something nice for Kevin everyday, because I have slacked on that and he deserves it.

Plus, I exercised 5 days last week. I know once I start working again this week it is going to be harder...ok close to keep this pace up but I am sure going to try because I love how it makes me feel. And the more I do it, the easier it gets. Im addicted and scared to miss a day in fear that I will realize how lazy I really am and won't have the energy to start up again...
But I won't let that happen!

Things are going to good. I have to have faith that I can keep them up. I will, I will I will.

It's a New Year...and a New Start

I have never been big on New Years Resolutions. If you know me at all you know that I only like to do things that I am good at. So I hardly ever do anything that I know I am going to fail at. And resolutions definitely fall into that category. But this year is a different year. I am feeling like a fresh start is essential to my survival. I am so glad that the New Year fell when it did because I was in dire need of it.

I had not been the person God created me to be last year. I am ashamed of the way I had acted at times and the way I have treated the person who means the most to me. I want to publicly acknowledge that I have not respected my husband the way I should. The way he, and all men deserved to be treated. I want to be held accountable to anyone who knows us. If you see me doing it again, I am giving you free reign to call me on it. That being are my Resolutions:

1. Respect Kevin more, and laugh more with him
2. Exercise more
3. Eat less sweets
4. Spend a little time with God EVERY SINGLE DAY

Short and Simple... I want to trust God more throughly to help me though this next year to be the person He created me to be. I Long to be that woman and I feel like this is my year!

Amazingly Good News

We finally got our computer fixed. We have been having issues with the battery for over 6 months now but couldn't afford to get a new one. So of course we waited until the computer wouldn't even turn on anymore before we decided to go and take it in. The first appt they had was New Years Day (of course) and I really didn't feel like going. But I sucked it up and walked in to a familiar face. It was my friend Jeanie's brother. He recognized us from a birthday party and ended up being able to exchange our battery FOR FREE!!!! I can't even tell you the joy that went through my body when he told me this news. I seriously felt tears welling up in my eyes as we walked out the door with a brand new battery and power adapter. I feel like God has been seriously taking care of us lately and this is just another example of His faithfulness to our family. We really couldn't afford a new battery but we need our computer. I have been so frugal with our money and always feel like stuff like this is too good to be true. This kind of stuff never happens to us but I am SO thankful that this time it did.
